Prediction :
Gemma, a recently kidnapped girl, is trying to find any and every way to get home in Stolen by Lucy Cristopher. But that’s not possible if she doesn’t know where she is. She’s tried taking his truck but, that didn’t work. She just got stuck and lost, dehydrated, and ended up back with Ty. Ty is her capturer. She has a knife hidden in between the mattress and the spring board, she can’t kill him though. He’s her only way home.
At first when I started reading the book Stolen I thought she was going to escape, make it home, and tell the authorities about Ty. Now that I am farther in the book, my prediction has changed. I think that Gemma will want to stay with Ty. Maybe she will realize that he cares about her. He told her
with people that treat her badly. Everyone was mean to her. But, she always saw her friends and family as the best thing in her life. They really don’t care about her.Her friends ditched her in the park when she didn’t want to be alone with a boy that himself that he loves her. Ever since he said that she has changed her attitude towards him.
He starts to care more about her, than having her with him. When she gets bitten by the snake, he says that he’ll take her back even though that’s not what he wants to do. After that my prediction would be that she says she’ll go back with him. Gemma would realize she’s happier with him, than was obsessed with her at the time. Her mom and dad are always traveling. Her parents even said work is the most important thing. If Gemma goes back home I think that the book would be very boring. It’s been more adventuress with Ty in her life. When they are together I can sense the love that he has for her through his words.

Letters from Hollis Woods

Dear Hollis,
I know we have never met. But I recently found out that you lived in the same orphanage as me! My name is Roger. The “mustard lady” told me about you. How you changed. She said that you used to be quiet and to yourself. That you would constantly come back. Here, to the orphanage. She told me the story of when you lived with that boy, and his parents. You know the ones that were in the crash? I just want to let you know that I never felt loved and cared for either. Then I met this lady Mrs. Jones. She was walking down the street and I tried to take her purse. But she took me by the collar and pulled me all the way home with her. Taught me the really meaning of trust. I was just a boy all alone on the streets, a thief. The day I met her changed my life forever. I am now serving at a soup kitchen, I have a job, and a nice family is thinking about adopting me! I hope you are doing well.

Sincerely, Roger

Dear Roger,
You are right. I never felt like I had anyone. Not even the kids at the orphanage. When I moved in with Josie I thought that it was temporary. But, I ended up living with her long term. I loved it! She was the best person in my life! She helped me and I helped her. Mrs. Jones sounds like a nice woman. Maybe she could teach me a few things to? We should all meet up one day. I would like that. People used to be so judgmental. Everyone even myself. Just never give up. You can become the person you’ve always wanted to be.

Sincerely, Hollis Woods

The Disturbance

I had plans with my friend the night my sister and dad were going out. Before my dad left we said we wanted to ride the ATV’s. We threw on a pair of old jeans and sneakers. Leading her out the door, I handed her a helmet and strapped it on for her.
“How do I work it?” I showed her gas, brake, and how to turn the machine on and off. She turned the key and hit the gas, nothing.
“Try again.” I say. Again she turns the key and hits the gas. The ATV starts up. I see her take off so I jump on another ATV and we ride.
“You know what we should do?” she asks
    “Huh?”
“Go on the road!” She smiles at me. I shut down the engine and ask my dad if it would be okay. He nodded his head yes and we go. Up and down. Up and down. After about half an hour of screaming and laughing, we decide it’s time to go in. We park the ATV’s into the garage.
In the backyard, we jump on the trampoline showing off some of our best tricks. I show her my front tuck, round off, and handstand. She shows me her hand stand, front handspring, and attempts a front tuck. We see a police car pull into the neighborhood.
“Why do you think they are here?” she asks
“Sometimes they pull around to make sure there isn’t anything weird happening,” I say.
Two more pull in. They pull up to my house. I freeze, butterflies fill my stomach. What did we do? My dad goes out to see them and they start talking, about ten minutes later he comes in. And he says we aren’t allowed on the road anymore.
Apparently, it’s a “disturbance”. We are only aloud to ride them, in general, between the hours of six and nine. And the cops pulled away...leaving us behind upset with my neighbor.

Conflict/Resolution: Before I Fall

Authors Note: The conflict replays itself many times wihtin this book and in the piece.

The conflict in this book is when Sam wakes up over and over again. She has no idea how to stop it so she keeps reliving it day after day. Once she realizes how much it sucks, she decides to change it. She takes matters into her own hands. But does she realize how hard that might be? She relives the same day. Differently. But, she doesn't like the out come. She needs to find a way to fix it. First she makes things right by stopping people from getting in fights, drinking, and a car crash. She wakes up the next morning and everything is fixed. It might have been dramatic but, she fixed it. She got her friends, family, and life back.

Before I Fall

In Before I Fall, a girl named Sam is surprised to wake up one morning and live the same day over again. She soon notices that it is a cycle. Thinking she had done something wrong and that the universe is only trying to bring fate with her and her boyfriend Rob, she takes advantage. She relives the day the way she wants; sticking up to her bossy friend, leaving he boyfriend, being the “leader”, and stealing from her parents. Sam slowly starts to realize she doesn’t want to do the same thing with the rest of her life, she decides it’s time to make things right. Continue with her original plan, being herself, going to the party, and being with Rob. Destiny comes through.

Six Flags

Six Flags is a great place to go. The roller coasters give you a rush and as soon as you feel the wind rush through your hair! My personal favorite is Raging Bull. You slowly climb to the top and scream all the way down! When we first entered the park my friends went on Superman! One of my friends got so excited she peed her pants! We also went on American Eagle. That was my other friend’s first roller coaster ever! I was so happy she liked it. Me, Tiffany, Olivia, and Danielle played the game where you climb on the rope ladder and touch the red line for two seconds and you win. I also played the water gun game and won an elephant! His name is Ellis. Then five minutes before we had to leave  we stopped to buy candy for the way home. It took almost three times as long though. On the way back me and Sophie sat in a seat together and Tiffany and Radi sat on top of us. Me, Esser, Steph, Tiff, Olivia, Jenna, and Danielle rode the Demon six times in a row. We played the truth game . That was my exciting time at Great America!

Alaskan Wilderness

Alaskan Wilderness
By: Madison Dominiak

The Alaskan Wilderness is a beautiful magical place. And there is a debate going around on if we should drill for oil? I mean the jobs would help our economy but, what about the people and the animals living there. After all they were there first. We should not drill for oil in the Alaskan Wilderness. We would be ruining a lot of people and animals lives.

First there is only one good thing about drilling there. Jobs. Our economy is suffering with a 8.3 unemployment rate. Those people need jobs. I just think hat it would be possible for them to find a job somewhere else instead of ruining one of the only wild life preserves left! There are many jobs. Not a lot that hire but still a good amount where they should be able to get up and look for one that fits them. These jobs would ruin or even kill people and animals lives.

Second, there are beautiful mountains, valleys, and rivers that we have to help protect. The animals need this place for resources. A bear might fish and drink out of the river. A mountain lion might live on/in a mountain. Smaller pray might live in the water or in the valleys. Most people are thinking of themselves in this situation. Thinking about the animals is thinking of you. When all the animals like: eagles, musk ox, and polar bears die out because their birthing ground is gone where will the animals breed? If they can’t breed therefore; the species dies out. If the main species dies out meat/ most food is gone.  We will be taking these animals home away.

Lastly, the U.S. has such a bad economy that people living here don’t care what happens to these people. The people who are all for this are the employed ones and the people living there are the ones that are against it. This is an ongoing argument on which side owns or deserves the land.  Well let’s look at the facts. The U.S. has set the standards too high,  we are expected to make 41% of the world’s oil. And these natives know nothing but, the land they were born on. The rightful owner is the people living there. So the U.S. should pack up and move. We could be ruining the lives of millions.

So just to recap the U.S. has no right trying to come in and take people’s homes away. They asked and the natives declined. There are economy issues we need to deal with somewhere else. And then the animals all die out, and there are social ups and down. Does that give us the right to take over their home land? No. we first have to insure the safety of the people and animals before we do anything else. The U.S. should not drill in the ANWR.
