Comfort and Rejection
Authors Note: Do you have that one person in your life that you can tell anything to? You can run to them in your time of need or when you’re feeling down? Well everyone has one person in their life that they can tell anything to and they won’t judge you. Well this is pretty much the definition of Josh and Stella’s relationship. They have been best friends for twenty three years and they tell each other everything. Josh doesn’t start to doubt their relationship until Stella starts to act different. Friends, Family, or any one you know they could be the best thing in your life. You tell anything and everything to them and they won’t judge or reject you. In my book Stella by: Mirriam Smith Josh and Stella have been friends for twenty three years. They can say anything to each other and when they have group dates they take each other to fill the awkward moments. But one day after a group date Josh starts to doubt their friendship. Stella won’t tell him what’s wrong. Soon their friendship starts to go downhill. This scared me because everyone needs someone, that person should always be there, and even when your relationship falls apart you will always come back together again. You need someone in your life that understands.
When you have no one else who is the first person you would turn too? That person the most important person in your life, you need them and that’s a fact. If they were gone there would be no one left. In Stella, Stella’s family and friends are all rejecting her because she won’t settle for a man. That’s when she turns to Josh, her partner in crime since third grade, and he tells her she shouldn’t settle for less than perfect. People like this are the ones you need the most. Another book that reminds me of Stella is The Hunger Games. Gale has always been there for Catniss since they were little. And In the “Arena” Peeta doesn’t question when she says to run or to stay. They are always there for you and will never question you. You tell them everything and they tell you everything and that’s it nothing to hide. Everyone needs someone.
Sometimes we hesitate when it comes to our relationship with the most trustworthy person that you know. You wonder if you really can trust them, just like when Josh thought that Stella didn’t trust him anymore because she was hiding something. And Stella repaid the favor by comforting him when his fiancé walked out at their wedding and skipped town with another man. This happens to kids and adults all the time. They tell each other a secret and then when the rumors start to fly you think that they might have betrayed you. Your mind wanders to think maybe someone over heard us or maybe they really did spill the beans. It happens all the time in the world. You just have to trust and when you do you realize they really are there for you, your relationship becomes better. Someone will always be there for you.
If you have ever moved you think “now I’m going to lose all of my friends”. Sometimes that happens but, not to the lucky ones. Stella stays at a hotel for over two weeks out of town because she needs time to think about her relationship with Josh, when his ex-fiancé comes back. Melinda, Joshes ex-fiancé, doesn’t like Stella and feels she is a threat to her chances with Josh. Soon Stella starts to think of moving far away. When I moved none of my friends kept in touch. This made me really sad to see all of my best friends being taken out of my life one by one. When I came back none of them would barley talk to me. So I made new friends. Sometimes Life is funny that way and brings new better people into your life. If you are lucky you have true friends and they will come back to you. Like when Josh found Stella, they realized that they were perfect for each other and got married. Even if you grow apart you will find a way back to each other.
Friendships and relationships have their rough patches but, you can never give up. Because everyone needs someone, that someone will always be there for you, and you will always find a way back to each other. So even when you think “Maybe they aren’t my friends” they really are and they will always be there for you. You will realize a true friend when you see one. Don’t take them for granitite because as soon as they are gone, you have no one to go to for advice. You have to take risks in your life to find the one person that you need to stand by your side through everything.
